2011 Birthday Bash??

I'm sure everyone that attended the 40 year reunion (August 14-15) agrees that a good time was had by all for the most part; even if there were a few minor hitches.  Most of you may have been unaware of the hitches encountered; but at this point it doesn't matter.  After organizing such an event; I think you all will agree that it was the gathering of fellow alumni and not all the frills (prizes and entertainment or lack of) that mattered most. I know that a DJ was originally advertised; but with the low turnout and the survey results; we changed courses as a result. I apologize to anyone that was expecting the DJ & Karoake. With the decorations (a big thanks to Linda Weber Kohlhase for making the Country Club look great); we'll be able to use them again except for the balloons of course as well as the Welcome Banner that (Denise Marcell Parke was instrumental in getting made).  Our entertainment will be an IPOD again with a variety of music from the 60's til now.  We will NOT be putting anyone on display to lip synch a song for entertainment like my previous survey surmised.  It was just a joke that no one really got.  Was never really serious about that.
To think I needed to bribe you (with prizes) to get donations for the C-G Food Drive is now plain ludicrous as your generosity came through in spades.  Final tally was that we collected a total of $575 in cash/checks and approx $250 in bags of items donated which Marlene Vanek delivered to them the day after the reunion. I delivered a check to them in the amount of $555 several weeks ago and they were stunned to receive a check in addition to all the wonderful items that were donated and dropped off at the reunion. (I mailed the other $20 check shortly after I presented the first check as I had already dropped off the first check before I received a check in the mail marked for the pantry.)  Thanks so much for showing the true spirit of giving.  The C-G Pantry really appreciated our efforts to raise funds and items at a time when giving is so low.  They are using the money to buy in bulk from the Northern Food Bank.  They can buy so much for that money.  More than you or I could buy at a regular grocery store.

Please take the time to answer the survey questions concerning the 2011 Bash.  It is important to get feedback from EVERYBODY so no one feels shortchanged or disappointed next time.

FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVEN'T RESPONDED YET; PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO ANSWER THIS SURVEY SO WE CAN TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL IN OUR PLANNING!   THANKS!!

* Answer Required

1)

* If we have another event, like in 2011; would you attend?

(We plan to simplify things so we can visit and interact more)

2)

* If we do proceed; where would you like to have it held?

At a hall (like a VFW hall in McHenry) or a banquet hall (Park Place in CL) and have a local restaurant cater the food in and get charged a set amt with a CASH bar only?(There is a hall rental fee)
At an area park where everyone brings a dish to pass and we only get charged for price of permit, meats, soft drinks, rental of grills to cook meats. (No alcohol would be allowed).
A "destination" reunion where everyone pays their own way?
At a bar like Wool Street Grill where everyone takes care of their own bill? (This will be the pre-party gathering; not the main event)
 Other ideas?

(It could be held outside county if it were a "Destination" gathering/trip)

3)

If we have a park setting where we'll grill our own meat, will you be able to assist in cooking the meat?

 No
 Yes
I'm volunteering my better half to help out

4)

* The VFW has several different venues that we choose from. Pick one of those choices:

5)

* If we were to choose a "Destination" Reunion; would you or do you know of someone who could put together a good package deal for us?

I'd be happy to check into Vacation pkgs and organize it
I know someone in the travel industry who could get us good prices and I'll check into it
I don't know of anybody who does that; but I'd be interested in going on one.
I like the idea of a "Destination" Reunion. If I had my choice; I would like to go to:
Only if I can bring family member(s) besides my spouse or significant other
It would depend on where it is before I commit to it
I don't like the idea of a "Destination" Reunion because:

(Just remember; it may limit the number of individuals to attend. I think our goal is to get more people to attend this one; not prevent attendance.)

6)

* When would be the best time to have the "60 is Sexy" party?

(If the time of year is a deal breaker; when would it fit into your busy schedule? The last box put in the specific month that works best for you)

7)

* Would you want specially made T-Shirts for this event or not?

Yes No
(It would be the 60 year old theme)

8)

If you would wear a specialty T-shirt; what size do you wear?

9)

* Would you prefer that it be for adults only so we wouldn't have to worry about entertaining the kids?

Yes No

10)

* Would you bring your child(ren) or other family members other than your spouse if it were allowed?

Yes No
(Some have younger kids; others have grown-up children; and maybe some are raising their grandkids)

11)

Any other idea(s) or comment(s) not covered above?
